ANTIPOLO—The Akari Chargers are on the board in the single round-robin semifinals of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after escaping the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in five sets 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 16-14, at the Ynares Center here on Saturday, March 29.

Eli Soyud, who was included in the 2025 wishlist for Alas Pilipinas, came up big for the Chargers as she fired 34 points built on 27 attacks and seven blocks.

Akari got the head start in the semis race, and the Chargers also ended the Flying Titans’ nine-game winning streak.

With Choco Mucho needing just one more point to seal the win at 11-14, Akari went on a game-saving run to tie the game, before Sisi Rondina’s attack sailed wide to push them to match point.

In the following play, the Chargers managed to keep Rondina’s attack in play as Faith Nisperos delivered a tight cross-court attack that managed to keep within the taraflex.

Up next for Akari will be the defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers on Tuesday, April 1 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
