Ateneo outlasts UE in 5 sets
The Ateneo Blue Eagles bagged its first win in UAAP Season 85 after surviving the UE Red Warriors in five sets, 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 22-25, 15-10.
The Blue Eagles started off strong by winning the first two sets, but then the Red Warriors made a furious comeback to force a Set 5.
Ateneo’s open hitter Abai Llenos, who finished with 15 points, proved to be the difference in the final set as he led the way in the Blue Eagle’s victory.
La Salle sweeps UP
Meanwhile, in the second game, the De La Salle Green Spikers picked up their first win of UAAP Season 85 after defeating the UP Fighting Maroons in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.
Noel Kampton and Billie Anima combined for 25 points in DLSU’s victory.
The Green Spikers avenged their opening day loss against the UST Tiger Spikers to even their record at 1-1. The Fighting Maroons, meanwhile, have yet to pick up a win in the season.
