Adamson gets chance to end unbeaten De La Salle streak

Five have tried and failed.

On Sunday, the De La Salle Lady Spikers will put their five-game winning streak on the line against the equally hot Adamson Lady Falcons as Season 85 UAAP Women's Volleyball action continues.

The Lady Spikers have been dominant in almost all their wins, sweeping four squads in the past three weeks. De La Salle has only been pushed to five sets once, in their opening win against the UST Golden Tigresses.

Adamson, on the other hand, has won three straight matches after a 1-1 start. They are the second hottest squad next to De La Salle.

Asked about their impending collision with the league's current top squad, Adamson coach Jerry Yee said, "I joke around the team na mahirap umasa, pero 'yun lang talaga."

The soft-spoken mentor said they don't actually look at matchups.

"'Yung execution, 'yung process ang binabantayan namin. Winning over another team, parang hindi na namin iniisip 'yun," he explained.

One of Yee's top players, rookie Trisha Tubu, also keeps things in perspective in terms of matching up against powerhouse teams.

"Alam naman po nating contender din sila sa Final Four, pero 'yung goal po namin parati is mag-execute nang tama 'yung mga ginagawa namin, and tapangan pa every game, para 'yung output namin is, 'yung kaya naming gawin is malabas namin," she said.

They will get the chance to do all the right things on Sunday. Whether that will be good enough to hand the Lady Spikers their first loss in the tournament remains to be seen.
