The Filipinas will usher in 2025 with a February training camp in Manila that will feature a total of nine newcomers, as confirmed by the 31-player list of call-ups for the hometown activities slated to begin on February 17.

While the list features longtime stalwarts like Sarina Bolden, Olivia and Chandler McDaniel, Inna Palacios, Hali Long, as well as Quinley Quezada, the team will also be looking at fresh faces for the Filipinas as a busy 2025 looms.

Finding talent abroad certainly worked wonders for the Philippine Women's National Football Team, as the Filipinas eventually made their FIFA Women's World Cup debut. For this cycle, they're hauling in a fresh batch of young blood.

Aiming to have a strong showing in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers, the AFF Championship, and the SEA Games all set for this year, Filipinas head coach Mark Torcaso will have his freedom of choice among the most promising prospects.

All nine call-ups are playing football while based abroad with most of them still in the US NCAA.

Let’s take a quick look at all the new players slated to join the history making Filipinas in Manila.

Maysen Veronda

Maysen Veronda is a sophomore playing for the Texas A&M Aggies as a goalkeeper.

Standing at 5-foot-9, Veronda heads to Manila recovered from a tough injury which limited her freshman season in the US NCAA Division 1 to just one game in the 2024 season.

She played youth football with the San Diego Surf and helped guide them to titles in the Manchester City Cup back in 2019 and 2021.

In her college career, she tallied a shutout in her only appearance in her freshman year back in August last year.

Nya Harrison

Defender Nya Harrison is an alumni of the Stanford Cardinals women’s soccer program, where her career is highlighted by a Pac-12 championship in 2022.

As a sophomore that year, Harrison appeared in nine matches for the Cardinals and helped guide Stanford to 12 shutouts, using her stifling defense to limit opponents to just .55 goals per game on 8.6 shot attempts.

Her impact only continued to grow as she aged, as she started a total of 23 matches for Stanford in her senior year in 2024, where she forced her opponents to .78 goals per game on 9.09 shots.

In 2023 and 2024, Harrison helped Stanford to two College Cup appearances.

Malia Cerdon

Malia Cerdno, listed as a defender for the Filipinas, is an alumni of another Division 1 football team in the Abilene Christian Women’s soccer team.

During her freshman year, she was named to the Western Atlantic Conference All-Freshmen Team after leading the team in points and goals across 568 minutes of action.

As a senior, she started and played in 17 games for the Wildcats. She tallied one goal in a season that was cut short, as the Wildcats missed out on the postseason in Cerdon’s final year with the team.

Autumn Cayelli

Autumn Cayelli has played two seasons for the South Carolina Gamecocks as a forward/midfielder.

In her sophomore year, she played 18 games and finished the season with one goal and one assist, playing a total of 269 minutes for the season — a big jump from her 96 minutes of action in her freshman year.

Cayelli, a former Gatorade Player of the Year, scored her first and only goal so far for the Gamecocks against Auburn, providing a pivotal cushion for her team as they won that game, 2-1.

Mallie Ramirez

Junior forward Mallie Ramirez is coming off of a stellar year with UNLV after starting in all 20 games during 2024 NCAA season.

Ramirez helped the Rebels reach its first postseason since 2016, when the team qualified for the Mountain West Tournament last year. During her three seasons with the team, she had 13 goals — including five each from the last two seasons.

Her 13 goals are the most for any Rebel in that span. Two of her goals were also game winners.

Jaime Turrentine

Jaime Turrentine was part of previous call-ups for the Filipinas back in 2013, along with the likes of Madison Salom during the Corona camps.

Turrentine is a left back and plays as a defender for Portugese side Vitória SC.

The team plays in Division II of Feminino Serie Norte, where Turrentine has appeared in six matches and scored one goal in three wins, two draws, and one loss for her team.

Overall, the team is 9-3-2 for the year.

Kaela Hansen

Kaela Hansen is headed to the national team with a plethora of experience from her time with the Canadian youth team program, while also playing for the Northern Super League with AFC Toronto.

Before joining her new team, Hansen played for KuPS in Finland, where she helped her team nab the silver medal in the Kansallinen Liga. Before that, she played in Serbia where she won both the Serbian Women’s Super League and the League Cup.

She also has high experience in club football, having participated in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification phases with both her teams in Finland and Serbia.

During her college days, Hansen was a player for the University of Kansas where she won the Big 12 Tournament, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16, and making a total of three NCAA Tournament appearances.

Ivymae Perez

Midfielder Ivymae Perez joins the helm for the Filipinas fresh after a signing to AFC Toronto, after competing with the North Toronto Nitros in League1 Ontario’s Premier Division.

In college, Perez represented Toronto Metropolitan University and was also named MVP in the 2022-23 season.

She also had NCAA Division 1 experience with the University of South Florida.

Emma Tovar

Emma Tovar is a defender who plays for top-flight Spanish football league Liga F with Valencia, where she’s played since 2022.

Tovar has reverted back-and-forth between the reserve squad and the main team. During her stint with the reserve team, she made 53 appearances and scored six goals.

This season, she has a total of seven appearances for the team in the league with her longest stint coming with 82 minutes of action in a 2-0 loss against Elbar.

Catch the newcomers and more when the Filipinas head to Manila for their camp beginning next week. They will culminate the camp with an intrasquad friendly at the Mall of Asia football pitch in Pasay City on February 25.
