The La Salle Green Archers bounced back in a strong way after their frustrating loss versus archrivals Ateneo Blue Eagles, fashioning out a comfortable 91-71 victory over the UST Growling Tigers at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

The Green Archers took control from the get-go and never looked back as they amassed a lead as large as 26 points at one point in the match.

Joshua David and Kevin Quiambao led La Salle's balanced attack with 14 points apiece, while Evan Nelle added nine points to go along with seven assists.

After the game, coach Topex Robinson couldn’t help but share to the media Nelle’s small but important gesture that led to David’s solid performance, especially in the fourth quarter.

“I wasn't the one who gave Josh the extra minutes. It was Evan,” Robinson said during the postgame press conference.

“With five minutes left, Evan was already about to sub, and then when Josh made that first jumper he asked me, 'Coach, I think Josh will stay in the game.' He needs the opportunity and he's playing well, so he went back,’” Robinson added.

The La Salle tactician went on praising Nelle for being that kind of leader for the team, hoping that it would rub on the other players as well.

“For you to offer that position to your teammate who's playing well is really something that defines his character as a leader and hopefully will define us also as a team,” said Robinson.

With the win, the Green Archers moved to 2-1 in the standings as they prepare to face the ecstatic Adamson Soaring Falcons on Wednesday, 5 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Growling Tigers, meanwhile, are still looking for their first win of the season and will next take on the Ateneo Blue Eagles also on Wednesday at the same venue. Game time is set at 10 a.m.
