Far Eastern University displayed firm resolve in the fifth set as it edged Casiey Dongallo-led University of the East, 22-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-27, 15-11, in the UAAP season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Gerzel Petallo, Chen Tagaod and Faida Bakanke teamed up for the Lady Tamaraws in the decider as they negated Dongallo who powered the Lady Warriors in the fourth and fifth sets.

Dongallo exploded with 30 attacks, her best showing in three games following a 27-point outburst in her debut against Ateneo and a 23-point effort versus University of Santo Tomas in the next.

Rookie Dongallo displayed composure in the fourth set, firing five straight points to overhaul a 22-23 deficit for UE and tow the Lady Warriors to a decider.

The Lady Tamaraws zoomed to a 6-1 advantage in the fifth behind Tagaod, but Dongallo responded with five attacks to power UE's 8-5 run to come within 11-9.

But Petallo, Bakanke and Tagaod secured the victory for FEU in the crunch, with Bakanke swinging a crosscourt hit to seal it.

Petallo topscored for the Lady Tamaraws with 18 on 14 attacks, three blocks and an ace. Tagaod and Bakanke provided able backup for Petallo with their 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Dongallo drew help from Riza Nogales with her seven points, including a crucial block and attack in the final stretch.

However, only two more chipped in on offense in the Lady Warriors side, with Khy Cepada coming up with five points and Kizzie Madriaga who coughed up two.
