The La Salle Lady Spikers are still looking to polish their showing as they brace for a tough match against the NU Lady Bulldogs in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament.
Despite notching another straight-set victory over University of the Philippines in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament on Sunday, La Salle is still dissatisfied with its performance.
The Lady Spikers picked up their third consecutive triumph and fifth overall via a 25-15, 25-17, 25-18 dumping of the slumping Fighting Maroons. They pocketed all of their victories via a sweep so far as they only surrendered sets in a lone loss to University of Santo Tomas that went the distance.
Still, Lady Spikers assistant coach Noel Orcullo said that there are things that the squad should work on as they head into their next match against National University on Saturday, March 16.
DLSU shares the second spot with the Lady Bulldogs with their identical 5-1 marks.
"Although straight sets, medyo nakukulangan pa rin kami sa galaw nila, so kailangan pang i-polish going to NU's game next week," Orcullo said during the post-game press conference.
"We have to work on our lapses, lahat ng dapat i-correct. Kailangan 'yung connection, nandoon pa rin," he added.
Reigning MVP Angel Canino, who topscored with 16 points for the Taft-based squad, pointed out the need to improve the team's connection and communication.
"For me, 'yung skills namin nandiyan na, eh. 'Yung kulang na lang 'yung sinasabi ni coach Noel [Orcullo], 'yung connection at saka 'yung communication namin inside kasi everything was given to us already," said Canino.
With a five-day respite before DLSU's highly anticipated matchup against NU, Canino and the rest of the Lady Spikers will look to go all out in their preparations in the hopes of ending the first round on a strong note.
