With Angel Canino sidelined due to right arm injury, the La Salle Lady Spikers withstood the UP Fighting Maroons' spirited challenge in UAAP women's volleyball action on Thursday, April 4.
La Salle bucked the absence of ace hitter Angel Canino as it staved off University of the Philippines, 26-24, 25-20, 24-26, 27-25, to stay at second in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Thursday, April 4.
For a moment, the Lady Spikers looked like they missed the services of Canino, who is out indefinitely due to a right arm injury, as they struggled against the Fighting Maroons in the last two frames.
Staring at a two-set-point deficit, 24-22, in the fourth, DLSU recovered just in time to up their card to 8-1 and assure themselves of at least a playoff for a Final Four berth.
The Fighting Maroons succumbed to their ninth loss against a solitary win.
