UAAP: FEU keeps Final Four hopes alive with win over Ateneo

Chenie Tagaod scored the biggest points as the FEU Lady Tamaraws clipped the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday, April 4.

Tagaod dropped four points as the Lady Tamaraws overcame a 16-19 deficit in the fourth frame to keep their Final Four hopes alive with a 5-4 win-loss record.

The win also assured the De La Salle Lady Spikers (8-1) and the NU Bulldogs (8-2) a trip to the playoffs.

Tagaod finished with 16 points--four of which came in the 9-3 FEU rally that allowed the team to clinch the much-needed victory.

Faida Bakanke fired 16 points, while Gerzel Petallo had 15 points including two blocks.

“Proud ako kasi 'yung pinagaralan namin, although may lapses, pero natrabaho pa rin talaga 'yung ginawa namin nung break,” said FEU coach Manolo Refugia.

Lyann de Guzman scored 15 points for the Blue Eagles in a losing effort.

Sophia Buena chipped in 14 markers, while Geezel Tsunashima and AC Miner added 12 and 11, respectively.

Ateneo dropped to 3-7.
