The UP Fighting Maroons will miss a key cog in Quentin Millora-Brown during their second round clash against rivals La Salle on Sunday, November 10, as the one-and-done center flew back to the US to mourn his late grandfather.

According to the UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development, Millora-Brown flew back to the US to rejoin his family following the death of his grandfather Angel recently, skipping this one game for the Maroons.

Millora-Brown’s grandfather was an alumnus of UP and was the one who pushed him to join State U in the UAAP.

UP head coach Goldwin Monteverde said that the team is behind their teammate’s decision.

“We understand, we respect, and we support Q's decision na umuwi muna to spend time with his family," said Monteverde.

"The MBT and, I'm sure, buong UP community rin are with him ngayon, as they mourn the loss of a family member. Let's all pray for him," he added.

Millora-Brown has been a big factor for the Maroons, norming 8.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks so far this season, as he fortifies the UP frontline since the departure of former UAAP MVP Malick Diouf.

With Millora-Brown out of commission against La Salle, the rest of the Maroons’ big men in Francis Lopez, Mark Belmonte, Aldous Torculas, Gani Stevens, Sean Alter, and Dikachi Udodo will need to step up to the plate.

Millora-Brown is expected to be back by Monday and will arrive Wednesday to rejoin UP’s push for the final games of the elimination round.

UP (9-2) is already assured of a twice-to-beat advantage after UE’s loss on Saturday night.
