The NU Pep Squad left everyone at the Mall of Asia Arena — even their own teammates — stunned after their tremendous “out of this world” routine to regain the crown in the UAAP Season 87 Cheerdance Competition on Sunday.

Though there were a lot of highlights in the stunning routine that was leaps and bounds above the rest of the field, there was one stunt that stood out from the rest of the performance.

From the venue itself to social media, NU’s “ferris wheel” stunt became an instant hit and will surely be remembered for CDCs to come.

And even the NU Pep Squad themselves were astonished at what they were able to do.

NU captains JP Cabido and Vigie Calleja shared that they were absolutely delighted at what their teammates accomplished in the now-iconic routine.

Calleja, for her part, said that she felt it from the moment they were able to stick that "ferris wheel" pyramid, as coined by head coach Gabby Bajacan, that it was something that was going to go down in history.

So ayun, sobrang we expect the unexpected talaga nung sumalang kami. Yun talaga yun,” she continued.

Heading into the routine, even Bajacan wasn’t sure how the fans would receive the daring stunt.

But if the conversations online are anything to go off — and the sounds of cheers at the Mall of Asia Arena — the “ferris wheel” pyramid will go down in history.

O helicopter pyramid. Last year kasi meron kaming tornado, yung mekus mekus na tawag. Ang daming tumawag, pero siguro it's the ferris wheel pyramid. Maraming salamat po,” said Bajacan.

The NU Pep Squad established themselves as the new-era dynasty in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition after tying a record 8th championship in the competition. They also won those titles in an 11-season span.
