Presenting herself as the next big thing in the UAAP, Shaina Nitura naturally wants to achieve bigger things with the Adamson Lady Falcons.
Adamson Lady Falcons’ Shaina Nitura positioned herself as one of the league’s next rising stars, shattering the rookie scoring record with a 33-point performance in Adamson’s UAAP Season 87 debut against Ateneo on Sunday.
Leading the Lady Falcons out of a 0-2 hole en route to a reverse sweep of the Blue Eagles, Nitura is undoubtedly one of the front-runners for individual accolades this early in her career.
Despite this, Nitura shook off the attention and said that she was more eager to achieve things as a team, and not as an individual.

Coming from a successful high school program in Adamson, she hopes to translate her previous victories into bigger things for the Lady Falcons in the collegiate scene.
“Personally po, hindi naman po ako naglo-look forward for anything na ganon. Bonus nalang po ‘yun kung sakaling magkaroon. Thankful po, syempre, praise the Lord. Pero hindi pa naman po tapos ‘yung season,” said Nitura, talking about her individual performance and possible awards.
“We want more for the team, not individually, but for the team. Dahil nakatikim kami ng isang panalo, I think we’re gonna be hungry for more,” she added.

Still, there’s no denying Nitura’s individual prowess as she also notched the highest scoring output for an Adamson player since Angela Benting’s own 33 points back in 2009.
With bigger challenges expected to come in Season 87, Nitura promised that she will be looking to improve herself even after the impressive debut.
“Thank you Lord po kasi binigyan ako ng talent ni Lord na ganito pero hindi naman po hihinto sa ganitong achievement lang kasi mas alam ko sa sarili ko na mas kaya ko pa po at mas gagalingan ko pa po sa mga susunod na laro. ‘Yung lang po. Thank you Lord po,” she said.
The Lady Falcons’ next assignment will be the DLSU Lady Spikers, who also feature a sensation akin to Nitura, as star hitter Angel Canino was Rookie-MVP back in Season 85.
After an impressive debut, Nitura now gets to test her mettle against one of the powerhouses in the league on Saturday, February 22, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
