UAAP Season 86 Finals MVP Alyssa Solomon now has South Korea among her potential plans after applying for the 2025 KOVO Asian Quota Draft.
Two-time UAAP champion Alyssa Solomon bared that it was not a planned decision to get her name into the 2025 Korean V-League (KOVO) Women’s Asian Quota draft in South Korea, as she built her plans post-NU in the middle of UAAP Season 87.
Speaking to reporters after NU’s fifth straight win on Sunday against the UP Fighting Maroons, Solomon said that she was approached about the opportunity to take a chance with Korean volleyball teams through an online application.

“Actually, biglaan lang siya since focused ako sa UAAP that time and biglang may nag-approach sa’kin na agent and sinabi kung gusto ko raw po ba mag-tryout sa KOVO,” said Solomon.
“Sinabi ko po kung online lang ba or kailangan ko po ba pumunta du’n (sa Korea). Sabi naman online lang so wala akong magiging problema du’n basta mag-submit lang daw ako ng files na kailangan po,” she added.
Solomon then submitted a portfolio of her volleyball highlights to be considered by seven teams in the Korean V-League. A number of local talents have gone through the same process in the last couple of years, with the list of Filipino imports in KOVO including Petro Gazz’s MJ Phillips and Capital1’s Iris Tolenada.
Apart from Solomon, Choco Mucho’s Mars Alba, Maddie Madayag, and PLDT’s Majoy Baron also put their name in for consideration.
At this point, Solomon said that there are no expectations for what happens next, as she remains focused on NU’s title defense in Season 87.
“Diyan lang siya muna. Mas focus po ako dito sa UAAP,” she said, adding that she already has other options lined up as well.
When it comes to how her NU teammates reacted, Solomon said that some of her teammates are already aware of the decision and are supportive of her.
“Yung iba sa’min alam na na magta-tryout ako. Di na rin sila nagulat,” she said.
Currently, the Lady Bulldogs are in the midst of a five-game tear as they try to score a first round sweep of UAAP Season 87.
Solomon, who finished with 16 points in a three-set win over UP, will return to action with NU when they face the Adamson Lady Falcons on Wednesday, March 12, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
