Five straight-win for the five-peat seeking NU Bulldogs?

The Sampaloc-based squad look to pick up where they left off, opening their UAAP Season 87 second-round campaign against the DLSU Green Spikers in the men’s volleyball tournament, Sunday, March 23, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

First serve is at 9:00 a.m.

After closing out the first round with a big win over Finals UST Golden Spikers, the Bulldogs stretched their current winning run to four games.

Jeffe Gallego tossed 21 excellent sets alongside four points, while four other Bulldogs produced double-digit scoring outings in a balanced attack.

Leo Aringo logged 13 points as Jade Disquitado added 12 markers and 16 receptions in his first start this season. Buds Buddin also had 11 points of his own, while Peng Taguibolos chipped in 10 more for NU.

With a 6-1 win-loss record, NU is in solo second in the team standings just behind the league-leading and undefeated FEU Tamaraws (7-0).

“Importante sa amin ‘yung gusto naming manalo. Kung ano man ‘yung nagiging challenge sa UST, kasi tinatrabaho talaga namin. Laking tulong din nung unforced errors ng UST para makuha namin yung game,” NU head coach Dante Alinsunurin told reporters in the post-game press conference.

Earlier, the Bulldogs tallied their first win of the season against the Green Spikers following a straight-set thumping and will look to score a repeat to start round 2.
