The FEU Tamaraws continue to charge in UAAP Season 87, now taking on four-time defending champion NU Bulldogs in the second round.
No. 1 FEU will look to end the month of March the same way they opened it: nothing but a win.
Still undefeated at 9-0, the red-hot Tamaraws look to extend their domination to 10-0 this UAAP Season 87, but with no. 2 NU Bulldogs standing in their way in a crucial clash Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
FEU racked up nine straight wins to begin the collegiate men’s volleyball tilt for the first time since Season 73, where the Tamaraws then went as far as 13-0 before losing their final assignment to the UST Golden Spikers.
In Season 87, the Tamaraws completed their fifth win via sweep after trouncing the winless UE Red Warriors last time out.
Congolese middle blocker Doula Ndongala led FEU’s charge with 14 markers, while Dryx Saavedra and Lirick Mendoza produced 13 points each.
Mikko Espartero fired 12 markers as main setter Ariel Cacao registered 21 excellent sets.
“Yung second round talaga, lahat ng teams pupukpok para makuha ‘yung match syempre. ‘Yung third set namin medyo talagang malayo lang ang score kaya ang hirap habulin. Buti nakapag cope up kami nung fourth set,” Tamaraws head coach Eddieson Orcullo told reporters in a post-game press conference.
