Aggression was the name of the game for Adamson.
The Adamson Lady Falcons wasted no time in dominating the University of the East Lady Red Warriors to start the women's volleyball competition of UAAP Season 85.
It took Adamson 26 minutes to win the first set, 25-19. They spent 20 minutes for the 25-9 second set victory. In the third frame, they only needed 17 minutes against UE to win, 25-5.
That is UE's second lowest score in a set since the 25-2 beating they suffered at the hands of the University of Sto. Tomas back in January of 2010.
"Lahat talaga nag-work hard. May mistakes pero nag-adjust naman kami. Siguro naging mas aggressive kami," spiker Lucille Almonte told the UAAP Varsity Channel.
She had 12 points on 10 attacks, 2 blocks, and 8 excellent digs for Adamson.
Trisha Tubu was also in double digits with 11, thanks to captain Louie Romero's 14 excellent sets.
"Sabi ko nga sa teammates ko, itaas natin 'yung standards ng play," Romero said. "'Wag tayo sumabay sa kalaban."
UE wasn't able to put up much of a fight with players only scoring in single digits and with KC Cepada notching the sole block point. They also committed 24 errors compared to Adamson's 8.
Coach Jerry Yee though is not celebrating yet. Their next game, after all, is against the defending champions National University Lady Bulldogs.
"Good thing, probably luck of the draw okay 'yung first game namin," he said. "Tignan natin 'yung standards natin compared to them."
"Kailangan 'yung mindset, makuha every point, every set," Romero added.
Adamson will face NU on March 1, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. This will be aired live on One Sports and the UAAP Varsity Channel.
