In just a span of a year, Fifi Sharma has gone through a whirlwind of experience.

From winning the UAAP Season 85 championship with De La Salle University, to signing with the Akari Chargers in the PVL, and now bagging the bronze medal with Alas Pilipinas in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup.

“Honestly, I just feel so lucky because we got the bronze medal kasi each and every one of us worked as a team. And of course, we have a really great setter like ate Jia [de Guzman], so I'm just really lucky,” Sharma told reporters.

Sharma also had the benefit of playing alongside her former teammates at DLSU, such as Angel Canino, Thea Gagate, and Julia Coronel.

Throughout these experiences, Sharma and her fellow middle blocker Thea Gagate, stood side by side as their partnership became instrumental in securing both the championship in La Salle and bringing glory to the Philippines.

As Alas Pilipinas took home the historic bronze medal, Sharma made sure to give some love to Gagate.

“It's good kasi we have open communication between each other, so kung meron man kailangan namin i-remind 'yung isa't isa, nagagawa namin,” Sharma told reporters.

“Napupunan lang namin 'yung weakness ng isa't isa, kaya I'm super thankful and lucky to have Thea by my side,” she added.

Having experienced championships and medals at the collegiate and international levels, Sharma is only fueled to achieve more in her young volleyball career.

“Mas tumaas pa lalo 'yung pangarap ko kasi given it's the highest level, I want to reach more. I want to reach further in my career, so I'm super excited about what's to come,” said Sharma.

Sharma and the rest of Alas Pilipinas will take a short break before heading to South Korea for an exhibition game to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Alas Pilipinas is expected to remain intact as they prepare to host the FIVB Challenger Cup this July at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
