From Trinoma to the USA, Alexandre “AK” Laverez received overflowing support as he claimed his first Tekken 8 international title at the 2024 Combo Breaker.
Filipino Tekken prodigy Alexandre “AK” Laverez shared messages of gratitude after winning the Combo Breaker 2024.
The Pinoy star defeated reigning Tekken World Tour Finals 2023 champion Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique in Illinois, United States.
Arslan Ash took a decisive 2-1 series lead, but AK revved up in Game Four onwards to mount a stunning comeback with a world-class performance on Shaheen in the nail-biting grand finals.
Raising the Filipino flag on the Tekken world stage, fans showered AK with plenty of love on social media.
“Ang dami niyong nag-like, nag-comment, nag-share ng posts, yung mga video, yung mga picture. Sobrang dami niyo, hindi ko kayo maisa-isa, babasahin natin ‘yan,” AK said on a Facebook video.
“Gusto ko lang sabihin na maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Itong panalong ‘to, itong trophy na ‘to, is para sa inyong lahat,” AK said, sharing the Combo Breaker 2024 trophy with everyone who supported his Tekken journey.
AK then called for fellow Pinoys to support Tekken players.
“Marami pa tayong [darating] na tournaments. Yung Tekken world tour journey natin is mahaba pa. Kaya sana samahan, suportahan, at manuod kayo ng mga laro natin,” he added.
Before taking the Code Breaker 2024 title, AK recalled his humble beginnings as he penned a short but wholesome message for his parents.
“Salamat sa supportive na parents. Dati sa Trinoma niyo lang ako sinasamahan para mag-TEKKEN, ngayon hanggang USA na,” AK wrote in a Facebook post.
