Carl Tamayo unleashed.
Tamayo earned a major milestone, being selected into the Korean Basketball League (KBL) Mythical Team after a strong performance in his first season under the Changwon LG Sakers.
The 24-year-old forward normed 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 50 games in the KBL this year, helping the LG Sakers secure the no. 2 seed entering the playoffs.
At 34-20, Changwon also gained a direct semifinal entry and will face the winner of the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters-Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus quarterfinals showdown.
Tamayo joined teammate and Egyptian import Assem Marei in the KBL “Best 5” this season alongside Jameel Warney, Kim Sun-hyung, and An Young-jun of the top seed Seoul SK Knights.
Throughout the season, he emerged as one of the potent offensive weapons of Changwon after tallying four 30-point games — including a career-high 37 points, albeit in a 92-88 loss to Seoul Samsung Thunders.
To this date, it remains as the highest point total of a Filipino import in the KBL.
