Gilas Boys hold Indonesia to just 2 points in second quarter to score big win in FIBA U18 Asia Cup

It’s a strong start for Gilas Pilipinas Youth in the 2024 FIBA U18 Asia Cup in Jordan.

The Gilas Boys blasted Indonesia, picking up a commanding 75-48 win in Group D play Monday (PHL time).

Three players scored in double figures for the Gilas Boys, led by Wilhalm Lawrence Superales Cabonilas with 19 points in 19 and a half minutes.

 

 

Nicholash Drei Lorenzo added 12 points for the Josh Reyes-coached team, while John Ear Media finished with 11 points.

Up only one after the first, Gilas used a 23-2 second quarter to break the game wide open.

The Philippines led by as many as 36 points, cruising to victory with a comfortable second half.

Halmaheranno Aprianto Lolaru Hady led Indonesia with 12 points, being the only one in double digits for his team.

The Gilas Boys will take on host Jordan next, before completing their Group D assignment vs. New Zealand.
