Eduard Folayang, former ONE Champion, has turned a new leaf in his career.

The Baguio native is leaving Team Lakay, a stable based in his hometown, after 16 years.

Folayang exuded gratitude as he recalls his journey with the group. “This stable was a large element in what I have become and the stature I have arrived at in our beloved sport,” Folayang said on his official Facebook page.

“Words will not suffice to aptly impart how grateful I am for our camaraderie that has led to our achievements and victories inside the Circle, as well as the heartbreaks that have driven us to keep going in pursuit of our ultimate goal,” he added. “I will forever cherish every moment like a precious treasure.”

The 39-year-old also had a few words for the leader of Team Lakay, Mark Sangiao. “I wish no less than the best for Coach Mark Sangiao and everyone under his wing. This is not a goodbye, but so long for now,” he said.

The man nicknamed The Landslide, who has dropped five of his last six ONE Championship matches, said he is making the move to pursue growth in his career.

“I must step out of my comfort zone and discover new ways to foster my development as a martial artist,” said Folayang.

It remains unclear whether Folayang will join another stable or carve a different route for his next chapter.
