A basketball court in Pasig City is paying its respects to two WNBA legends who changed the game.
There’s the Tenement Court in Taguig City, famous for its murals of NBA players. Now, there’s Jenny’s Basketball Court in Rosario, Pasig City.
In celebration of National Women's Month, Mike Swift of Every Court Can Dream, television host Gretchen Ho, and Atty. Mariana Lopa of Girls Got Game teamed up to repaint Jenny’s Basketball Court in honor of WNBA legends Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi.
Gilas Pilipinas Women's Basketball likewise made a visit to the basketball court and even helped out in painting the mural.
Taurasi, who currently plays for the Phoenix Mercury, took notice of the commemoration, thanking those who made the project possible.
“What an amazing project, it’s an honor! Love to see a community come together. Credit to @iammikeswift @metahoops.nft @krausehouse_nba for organizing,” said Taurasi on Instagram.
It’s not often that female hoopers get the recognition they deserve. Luckily, there are projects like this that show how much Filipinos love and respect the game of basketball—no matter what gender is playing on the court.
