Will she play? Newly appointed SEA Games captain Alyssa Valdez gives important injury update
PVL

Alyssa Valdez was tapped as team captain for the Southeast Asian Games, and the Phenom is raring to represent the country once again. Only, she's yet to make a comeback from a knee injury that kept her out of the entire PVL All-Filipino Conference.

With only one month to go before the biennial meet, Valdez said she's going to make it. Although, she hasn't given a timeline.

"According to doc [Raul] Canlas, kayang umabot talaga [sa SEA Games]," Valdez told reporter in a chance interview at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

There's more good news.

"'Yung progress ng therapy ko is very good. Nasa stage na na may mga  hopefully jumps and eventually would be able to do more complicated drills as well."

Valdez said she's "trusting the process" and being patient so she can comeback at 100%.

"'Di pa rin nawawala 'yung pakundisyon ko overall na katawan din."

The Phenom also made sure that her recovery time won't go to waste.

"One thing na lagi kong ginagawa is to go to practice, see everyone plays and mas nagfa-function pa rin mind ko and how volleyball works, and I also watch different volleyball, international games. I get to learn more techniques, strategies and varieties pagdating sa spiking, digging, any skills department."
