Eight of the top 25 teams in the world are seeing action in Pasay City in the next few days.
Two world powers filled with rich history will kick off the third week of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
World no. 2 Brazil and world no. 4 Italy, who have faced each other in the finals of the Olympics three times in the past, will once again test their mettle against one another at 3 p.m.
Italy, the reigning World and European champions, has faced ups and downs in the tourney and sports a 5-3 win-loss card. The squad seeks to climb out of their hole against 2021 VNL champs Brazil, which currently stands at 6-2.
Tuesday’s second game at 5 p.m. will feature fan favorite and tournament leader, Japan, which has a flawless 8-0 record at the moment. The Japanese will try to continue their streak against world no. 25 China, which is on the other end of the rankings with a 2-6 record.
The Philippines is one of six countries that will host the preliminary phase of the VNL. The league has already seen action in Canada and Japan the first two weeks, while the city of Anaheim in the United States is also hosting the other games in Week 3 alongside Pasay City. The final round of the competition will be held at Gdansk, Poland.

“Everyone is excited with the VNL men’s competition and we’re expecting more fans to march to the MOA Arena to witness thrilling world-class and high-flying international men’s volleyball action,” said PNVF president Ramon “Tats” Suzara said in a statement.
The games will start tomorrow, Tuesday, and will last until Sunday. Fans who wish to watch live can purchase tickets via Ticketnet.
