The Cignal HD Spikers will head into the playoffs of the PNVF Champions League undefeated after surviving the St. Benilde Lady Blazers in five sets: 18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 15-13, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum Wednesday.

The Lady Blazers had a strong start to the game as they grabbed a slim lead over the HD Spikers which they would maintain to secure the first set.

Come the second set, it was Cignal’s turn to have a hot start, building an early six-point lead. Benilde, however, would claw its way back to tie the score at 20-all.

But in the end, the HD Spikers proved to be too much, making a mini-run to secure the set.

The two teams would then exchange dominant performances in the next two sets with Cignal taking the third, while Blazers powered their way to win the fourth set.

The fifth set proved to be a thrilling bout between the HD Spikers and Lady Blazers, but in the end, it was Cignal that came out on top to secure the top seed in the tournament.

Team Captain Ces Molina led the way for the HD Spikers with 19 points built on 14 attacks, two blocks, and three aces.

In the second game, Chery Tiggo made it back-to-back wins at the expense of the now-skidding Petro Gazz Angels.

The Crossovers scored a 25-23, 25-9, 23-25, 25-17 win to make it 2-1 in the standings. Petro Gazz dropped to 1-2.
