After he re-upped with the team based in the northern part of Japan, Ramos was also named as one of the Hokkaido captains entering the 2024-25 B.League season.

While he’s not exactly used to the title, Ramos says he is determined to fulfill his responsibilities by being a leader that lets his actions do the talking.

“This is the first time I've held the title of captain since I was in high school, so it's not a role I'm very used to, but my teammates have been pushing me and creating an environment where I can play comfortably,” Ramos said during his renewal press conference with Levanga Hokkaido.

“I think I am the type of person who shows my character through my actions. I think a lot of different emotions will arise during a match, but I want to be a captain who can calm everyone down and bring them together even in those situations,” he added.

The upcoming season will be Dwight’s fourth season in Japan and third with Hokkaido.

Last year, he averaged a career-high 10.7 points per outing, appearing in 43 games. Unfortunately. Hokkaido went 17-43 for the season and Ramos ended the year prematurely with a an orbital fracture.

Entering this new season, Ramos is relishing renewed health and more time spent with Hokkaido preparing for a new campaign.

“This will be my third season here, but for the past two seasons I was unable to join the team until later due to national team activities, so this season I've been able to join the team earlier than ever before,” Ramos said.

“So I think I'll be able to prepare more thoroughly than ever before for the opening of the season together with my teammates. This season's team is full of hard-working players, including some highly skilled players, so I can't wait to start fighting with this team in the lead-up to the opening,” he added.

Dwight Ramos and Levanga Hokkaido will start the new B.League season on the road against the Shimane Susanoo Magic on October 6. Their home debut will come the next week against Nagasaki Velca.
