Miguel De Guzman is grateful for his work-from-home setup, which lets him spend more time with his wife, Denso Airybees’ Jia in Japan, and he remains hopeful they'll find time together on Valentine's Day.
Long distance? No problem for JiaGuel.

Long-distance relationships often feel like an emotional rollercoaster, full of longing and hope. Yet, sometimes love finds a way to close the gap, no matter how far apart two hearts may be.
For Miguel De Guzman, the challenge of being separated from his wife, Jia De Guzman—captain and prized setter for Alas Pilipinas, currently playing for Denso Airybees in Japan—is made easier by a fortunate blessing. His work-from-home setup allows him to spend more time with her, even when the physical distance feels vast.
“Luckily, work-from-home arrangements are possible and I can also manage my business remotely. So now, I’m able to be more present in Japan,” Miguel shared with One Sports.
As Valentine's Day approaches, couples everywhere are making plans to celebrate with their loved ones. But for Miguel and Jia, the day will have a slightly different twist.
Jia’s commitment to her team means she has a game scheduled on Valentine's Day. But despite the miles between them, Miguel remains hopeful.
“They have a game so what I’ll do is just travel with the team,” he explained.
“That’s the difference kasi we’re barely home; she always goes around. So hopefully we can find time kahit half day lang, ‘yong off niya, we can have dinner."
Even with the distance, their love continues to thrive—proving that sometimes, it's the little moments, like a quiet dinner or a shared laugh amidst a busy schedule, that mean the most on Valentine’s Day.
