The Alas Pilipinas Women are looking to bolster their lineup for a packed 2025 international season, with invitations extended to Petro Gazz’s Brooke Van Sickle and PLDT’s Savi Davison.

While the prospect of adding the high-impact wing spikers excites many, national team head coach Jorge de Brito remains grounded in reality—stressing that their eligibility remains the biggest hurdle.

“They’re gonna be good if they can be an option for us, but I have to take the reality right now—if they don’t have the papers, they are not eligible,” De Brito told One Sports. “I can’t talk about the possibility in the future. They’re gonna be good for any team or national team to have them, especially because they are Filipina.”

Van Sickle is currently under USA Volleyball, while Davison remains tied to Volleyball Canada. Their federation transfers must be completed before they can suit up for the Philippines.

PVL president and PNVF National Teams chairman Ricky Palou reportedly stated that the federation will process their transfers as soon as they formally commit.

Both players have expressed their willingness to play for the Philippines.

For now, De Brito is simply watching from the sidelines, waiting for official word before investing too much thought into their potential inclusion.

“If they told me officially that we are making progress, then I will wait. But right now, I’m just watching them play,” the Brazilian tactician explained. “If they really want to be committed, then they’ll be on the next step. For sure, I’ll be happy if this happens, but I’m not waiting for it right now.”

With multiple AVC tournaments, the SEA V.League, and the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok on the horizon, Alas Pilipinas are eager to reinforce the squad.

But until Van Sickle and Davison secure their eligibility, their inclusion remains a waiting game.

The women's squad is coming off a historic 2024 campaign, bagging bronze medals in the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup and 2024 SEA V.League Legs 1 and 2.
