In an unexpected crossover, K-pop superstars are now connecting with the NBA world.

As we prepare for the opening of the 2024-25 NBA season, let’s take a moment to highlight some of the K-pop idols who have proven to be huge basketball fans as well.

Song Yuqi from (G)I-DLE

Song Yuqi from (G)I-DLE had an unforgettable moment watching the Los Angeles Lakers last December 2023. Being a massive fan of LeBron James for over ten years, this was a dream realized for her.

“Today was really my lucky day. Thank you to all the players for such an incredible game. As a super fan of King James for more than 10 years, seeing him play live has always been my dream. Today is genuinely a dream come true. Thank you for being an inspiration throughout my career. I will elevate my game too! Let’s go Lakers,” she shared.

Tiffany Young from Girls’ Generation

Tiffany Young, another dedicated LeBron James supporter and a member of the iconic Girls’ Generation, was also spotted at a Lakers game in 2023 where she proudly rocked a LeBron jersey.

Suga from BTS

ARMYs know that Suga has a passion for basketball. Whether he’s watching from home or attending games, the BTS star is always all in.

The “Suga” stage name apparently originates from his love of the sport, derived from “shooting guard,” a position in which he enjoys playing. Over the years, he’s cheered for several teams, including the Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors might be looking to win him over as well.

On September 27, 2022, he posted a picture of himself in a custom Warriors jersey, featuring his stage name and favorite number.

Suga even got a shout-out from Steph Curry!

Additionally, he had an awesome photo opportunity with some Golden State Warriors players.

Chenle from NCT

NCT’s Chenle is an outspoken supporter of the Warriors, particularly a fan of Steph Curry.

In 2020, he and Mark were seen at a game as part of the online “Dub Hub,” which allowed fans to attend virtually during the pandemic.

Chenle has enjoyed significant recognition, not only from the Warriors’ official accounts but also from his favorite player!

Rosé from Blackpink

Recently, Rosé from Blackpink was seen at a preseason matchup between the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves at Madison Square Garden.

While the game itself was exciting, Rosé’s presence brought an extra element that caught the eye of both basketball enthusiasts and BLINKs. Clad in Knicks apparel, she seamlessly blended into the vibrant crowd atmosphere.

Although K-pop and the NBA come from different realms, fans of both share a unique connection. Their admiration for their idols creates thrilling moments that enhance appreciation for each industry.
