The Macau Black Bears bounced back in East Asia Super League action as they trumped Jeremy Lin and the New Taipei Kings, 109-97, at the New Taipei Xinzhuang Gymnasium on Wednesday, October 23.

Faced against the home team again, the Black Bears emerged victorious this time around, riding a team win where five different players finished in double-digit scoring. Jeantal Cylla had a game-high 32 points to pace Macau in its first-ever EASL win after upsetting the reigning P.LEAGUE+ champions.

But while Cylla got the game-high honors, it was Damian Chongqui that powered Macau’s breakaway in the fourth quarter where the Black Bears pushed their lead to double digits, running away with the statement win.

Chongqui finished with 23 markers, 11 assists, five rebounds, and a steal.

Former NBA sensation Lin and Sani Sakakini had 21 points each for the New Taipei Kings in the losing effort.

The Kings, who were the EASL's surprise darlings last year, open the new season 0-1 in Group B.

With the New Taipei defeat, both home teams thus suffered losses in EASL’s hostilities this Wednesday, as the Suwon KT Sonicboom also fell in their match against the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots.

The Black Bears return to action next week when they face the Ryukyu Golden Kings on October 30.

Meanwhile, the New Taipei Kings are on hiatus until they get a rematch against Macau on the latter’s home court on December 11.
