Due to player movements above her, Alex Eala jumped two spots in the latest edition of the WTA rankings.
Good fortune came for Alex Eala on Monday as she moved two spots in the latest edition of the WTA rankings to World No. 73, despite being inactive since the Miami Open.
Due to movement of players ahead of Eala, there were changes in the rankings which bumped up the 19-year-old Filipina a couple of weeks after finishing the Miami Open as a semifinalist that propelled her into the Top 75.
Eala, who is set to compete in a number of WTA tournaments in the coming weeks, thus set a new career-high ranking.
In the past few weeks, Eala has moved from World No. 140, to 75, and now to ranking 73rd in the world.
Her big leaps are expected to give her a big boost in making her Grand Slam debut in the upcoming French Open.
Of note, Eala is a Girls’ Doubles winner at Roland Garros where she ruled the tournament with Oksana Selekhmeteva back in 2021.
Eala will be entering the clay season next in anticipation for the French Open as well as she plays at the WTA 125 tournament, the Oeiras Ladies Open, in Portugal beginning next week.
She then plays at another WTA 1000 tournament at the Madrid Open before the end of the month.
There, the Filipino hopes to make another run after taking the world by storm in Miami with wins over Top 5 players Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek.
Eala is currently back at her home base in Spain where she is continuing to hone her craft under the Rafa Nadal Academy.
