Professional esports player Tristan Cabrera, better known as Yawi, sat out ECHO’s win against Indonesian team RRQ in the M4 World Championship on Monday.

ECHO country manager Mitch Liwanag told OneSports.ph it was the management’s decision to shelve the embattled Cabrera.

In a statement released to OneSports.ph on Tuesday, the pro esports franchise said it is looking into the rumors surrounding the pro esports player.

“ECHO is aware of the situation and has taken initial steps to address the issue internally,” the statement read.

“Presently, the team's main focus is M4, but rest assured that we have taken appropriate action that is aligned to our values.”

Cabrera was embroiled in an alleged cheating scandal that circulated on social media on January 1.

Then, NU star Jennifer Nierva cleared her social media pages of old photos and videos of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang player.

On Monday, the Best Libero of the UAAP also posted on Twitter a short message, saying that she will "let go and let God."

Nierva is part of the defending UAAP Women's Volleyball champions, NU Lady Bulldogs, who captured the title in Season 84.

Yawi is a starter on the ECHO team that finished first runner-up in Season 10 of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines. They are currently competing in the M4 World Championship, representing the Philippines alongside Blacklist International.
