Carlo Paalam's stint in the 2nd World Qualification Tournament success as he gets his ticket to the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
If there’s a will, there’s a way.
Carlo Paalam will see action in the Olympic Games Paris 2024, taking his slot via the 2nd World Qualification Tournament in Bangkok, Thailand Saturday.
Paalam beat India’s Sachin Sachin in the semifinals of the men’s 57-kg category, 5-0. The PInoy fighter won 30-27 for two judges, while three judges scored the fight 29-28.
The victory allowed Paalam to get his ticket to Paris, a ticket he initially missed after a shoulder injury derailed his campaign in the first World Qualification Tournament in March.
The 25-year-old is the 14th member of the Philippine team headed to the Olympic Games in Paris, joining fellow boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas.
Paalam likewise joins Marcial and Petecio as returning Filipino Olympians with a medal from a previous Olympics. He won silver at the 52-kg flyweight category in Tokyo 2020.
