 Philippine Olympian Joanie Delgaco was grinning from ear to ear after achieving a momentous milestone on the road to Paris 2024. 

The 26-year-old Filipina rower set a new personal record during her training in the 2000m time trial, clocking in at 7:23. Her previous personal record was 7:39.

Joanie is getting valuable experience abroad, even securing an invite to a local tournament in nearby Luxembourg.

“Nakita ko naman na hindi siya gaanong hirap, compared [to] last week,” said rowing head coach Ed Maerina.

“‘Yung performance niya ngayon ay maganda. Mas maganda kung makikita natin sa Germany next week, ‘yung isa pang time trial niya,” he added.

After achieving a new personal record before the Olympics, Delgaco’s journey continues with unwavering determination. Each stroke, each breath, fuels her passion to push beyond limits and strive for excellence.
