The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel started the PBA Commissioner's Cup relatively well despite missing their resident import Justin Brownlee.

JB has been sidelined after testing positive for a banned substance following Gilas Pilipinas' historic gold in the Asian Games. Despite that, the fan-favorite franchise boasts a 3-1 card to start the season with replacement reinforcement Tony Bishop.

According to LA Tenorio, who is coming back after a successful battle with cancer, they're still waiting for the decision regarding Brownlee's case.

"So far wala pang desisyon kay Justin. For now we’re really focusing on who’s out there now, Tony," Tenorio told former PBA commissioner Noli Eala in One Ph's Power and Play.

The PBA Ironman has nothing but praise for Bishop for filling in the void left by Brownlee's absence.

"He’s been very, makikita mo ‘yung eagerness niya to blend in right away. It’s not easy for Tony and for the team that we have a different import after seven years, pero nakikita ko ‘yung effort tsaka eagerness ni Tony na makapag-blend in sa team."

Another good news for the Barangay is the imminent comeback of forward Jamie Malonzo.

"Jamie is coming back tomorrow, makakapaglaro na rin si Jamie," Tenorio confirmed.

"Medyo ano lang kami ngayon, injuries at sakit here and there, hopefully makumpleto na kami sa team."

With the conference still relatively in its early phase, LA is confident that Ginebra will find its groove.

Having a certain coach named Tim Cone also helps.

"Hopefully, going to the (second half) phase of the schedule hopefully makumpleto na kami at maka-move forward kami. So far ang game namin inconsistent pa pero ganun naman talaga kami. You just have to be in the right spot sa playoffs, from there si coach Tim alam naman natin may mga plano ‘yan."
