Amid a trying conference, the Tropang Giga are set to turn to Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson for the remainder of the Commissioner’s Cup as PBA action resumes for the new year Friday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
TNT’s second RHJ was activated late December.
Rahlir is the older brother of Rondae, TNT’s champion import from last season’s Governors’ Cup. Unfortunately,
the younger Hollis-Jefferson sustained an injury during TNT’s East Asia Super League win over the Taipei Fubon Braves last December 20.
Enter Rahlir, who debuted for TNT in the same game, as replacement for PBA play.
TNT takes on Rain or Shine for the main 8:00 p.m. game at the Big Dome, with both teams looking to boost their respective playoff drives. Both teams share identical 4-5 records for 7th-8th places in the standings.
However, both teams are headed to opposite directions with the Elasto Painters currently on a league-best four-game winning streak, while the Tropang Giga have lost back-to-back, including last Christmas against defending champion Ginebra where they played with an all-local lineup.
