Beau Belga is carrying Rain or Shine on his broad shoulders in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup.
With young big man Keith Datu out with an MCL injury, Rain or Shine veteran Beau Belga felt the need to step up.
And step up he did.
Belga has been instrumental in the Elasto Painters' resurgence after dropping their first four outings, norming 22.3 points, 10 rebounds and 5.7 assists in their last three victories against Phoenix, Converge and Blackwater.
His string of sterling performances, which was highlighted by his first triple-double outing – and first for a local player in franchise history – of 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in a 110-90 win over the FiberXers last April 3, earned him the PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week recognition for the duration of March 31 to April 7.
But Belga is not about to slow down now, with Rain or Shine still eyeing a playoff berth.
“I need to step up a little bit more,” said Belga, whose team shares the eighth spot with Meralco with their similar 3-4 marks.
While the spotlight is now on Belga, he attributed his fine play to the help of his teammates.
"Buti na lang sa tulong mga kasama ko, mas dumadali ang laro," he said.
