San Miguel and NLEX shoot for a 2-0 win-loss record when they take on separate foes in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup on Sunday, August 25.

The Beermen look to follow-up on their thrilling 111-107 over Phoenix in their season-opener as they tackle a listless Blackwater side  in the main 7:30 p.m. match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Days after getting his record-extending eighth Most Valuable Player award, June Mar Fajardo immediately sent a message that he is not done reaping success just yet, starting the season with a 37-point, 24-rebound outing against the Fuel Masters.

To snap a two-game slump, the Bossing will need all hands on deck to tame The Kraken in their match at the Big Dome.

Meanwhile, NLEX also eyes a share of the top spot in Group B, which currently held by Rain or Shine with a 2-0 win-loss tally.

That won't be an easy task for the Road Warriors, though.

Robert Bolick and company need to put up another impressive defensive outing against the highly-fueled Phoenix. NLEX is coming off its first win against Blackwater.

Though saddled by foul trouble, import Jayveous McKinnis proved he could be a headache in the shaded area, finishing with 13 points and 15 rebounds against Fajardo and the Beermen.
