With UAAP Season 87 officially underway, our favorite basketball stars are dribbling and dunking like pros.

But let’s take a detour into an alternate universe where they’re not hitting the courts but hitting up different sports.

In a recent chat with One Sports, the stars revealed what sport they’d be diving into if hoops weren’t their game. Spoiler: It’s not always what you’d expect!

Michael Phillips as … Michael Phelps?

Michael Phillips is clearly a fan of wordplay.

According to the DLSU Green Archers’ center, if he weren’t sinking shots on the court, he’d be diving into the pool. Because he’d love to follow in the splashy footsteps of his almost katukayo, the Olympic swimming legend Michael Phelps.

Havey ka diyan, Mike!

Talk about duality with UE Red Warriors’ John Abate and NU Bulldogs' Mark Parks

UE Red Warriors’ John Abate was not just shooting hoops but also leaping high with high jumps, hurdling through 400m races, and sprinting in relays back in college. Meanwhile, NU Bulldogs’ Mark Parks was busy trading basketball for track in high school.

Seems like they both had a “track” record of versatility!

Alexa, play Power by Little Mix

If there’s one thing to take away, it’s that NU Lady Bulldogs’ star Camille Clarin and UST Growling Tigresses’ Kent Pastrana are proof that women pack a punch—literally! When they’re not sinking hoops, Camille dreams of stepping into the boxing ring, while Kent has her sights set on the taekwondo mat.

The intensity ramps up as the UAAP Season 87 men’s and women’s basketball tournaments dive into their second week on One Sports.
