Scotty Hopson came through with another clutch four-pointer as Converge eked out a 100-99 escape against Terrafirma in a thrilling PBA Governors' Cup duel on at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 14.
With the Dyip down, 99-96, Hopson hit a familar shot from the left wing to give Converge the lead with just 2.5 ticks remaining.
Antonio Hester then had a chance to win the game for the Dyip but his last-gasp attempt rimmed out.
The FiberXers thus kept their playoff hopes alive as they evened their record to 4-4 and stayed at fourth in the six-team Group A.
The Dyip, who were just reeling from a 98-99 defeat against Magnolia, suffered another one just two days later to stay luckless at 0-8.
Sadly for Terrafirma, the turnout was much like its match against the Hotshots where import Shabazz Muhammad delivered the heartbreaker in the dying seconds.
