Just a few months ago, Chris Newsome and Cam Lagmay shared the struggles of dating between two hectic schedules.

Fast forward, the Meralco Bolts star and Quezon City beauty queen are finally engaged, and their road to forever is one that could easily be the plot of a cute romantic film.
1. When Chris Met Cam (2018)
It all started with a moment of fate for Chris and Cam. For the two, it was through mutual college friends. From that first meeting, sparks flew and the rest is essentially history.
“We have some mutual friends in college, and that’s how we got introduced and just fell in love ever since,” Newsome shared.
Call it a meet-cute straight out of the movies.
2. A Slow-Burn Romance
The story of Chris and Cam’s relationship was slow and steady, taking a scenic route to love. For six years, they built their foundation brick by brick, 76 months to be quite precise.
“We’ve actually been together for 76 months. That's a little bit over 6 years and yeah, we started dating back in 2018.” Newsome revealed to One Sports.
3. The Power Couple Glow-Up
Between Chris Newsome’s fans on the court and Cam Lagmay hitting the spotlight as a beauty queen, their individual successes only strengthened their relationship. As a couple, they only proved that love and ambition go hand in hand, making them a true power couple.
“I’m so happy to be finally engaged,” Cam said.
4. The Right Time Moment
By 2024, life seemed to align perfectly for the two. With Chris Newsome hitting career milestones with Gilas Pilipinas and the Meralco Bolts, and Cam Lagmay’s growth as a beauty queen in full bloom, Chris decided it was time to move their story into its next chapter.
“I think it was just the right time for the both of us.”
“We have a lot of great things that happened over the course of this year. It has been a great year for us and I felt that the best way to seal the year would be to get engaged,” he said.
5. The Proposal (2024)
Cue the montage of Chris Newsome planning and practicing his proposal. He envisioned one that is intimate, one by the beach with roses, family, and the plot twist of doing it at exactly 11:11—a time loaded with spiritual significance for the couple.
6. The Grand Gesture (11/11/24)
The proposal was nothing short of a fairytale.
“It was a perfect date. It was a very intimate setting. We were by the beach. We were surrounded by our parents, which was really lovely. How he did it was a pile of roses in a heart shape, and we went in it,” Cam shared.
Even the date was spiritually aligned with the couple’s plans. It was perfect timing.
7. The Perfect Alignment
No one could script the scene better than Chris Newsome when it came to the perfect alignment. The proposal only showed how much he values their shared belief in the magic of 11:11.
“He showed me the time which was 11:11, which means spiritual alignment, and it means basically everything in that universe at that moment is leading you into a new chapter,” Cam mentioned.
“I think that’s very relevant to our story. Every 11:11 we try to manifest something new and it happens. It was a great experience, it was something that I’m going to remember for the rest of my life.”
It was perfectly aligned before sunrise, before sunset, and before midnight.
8. Family and friends in the supporting role
Adding to their love story were friends and families. Chris and Cam highly value the small circle that they have despite being in the spotlight most of the time.
“We’re kind of even though we’re in the spotlight sometimes, we like to keep our circle small and we really cherish the private times with one another, with our families, that’s really important to us,” Chris said.
9. Wedding Plans
Every love story ends with a hint of what’s next: the wedding plans. Chris and Cam plan to keep a big event intimate and cozy sometime next year.
“Next year most likely. I would say intimate as of now, that’s really important to us: family time and we really just like having the people that we care about who're close to our hearts to be there for those big events.”
“Even though it’s a big event, we’ll keep it fairly small with how many people we invite,” Chris mentioned.
10. Love, Actually
The couple isn’t rushing when it comes to their relationship. In fact, they are taking things “one step at a time.” When asked about the idea of having children, Chris and Cam were firm to answer.
“We’re still working on that, but we’ll figure it out as time goes on, what’s best for us so, eventually we’ll get there. we’re just excited to take things one step at a time,” the couple quipped.
11. Serendipity
For Chris and Cam, every 11:11 is a reminder to dream together. 11 is a number full of milestones.
