Scottie Thompson didn’t exactly look like he was in a gloomy mood when he emerged from the dugout after a tough 87-83 loss to TNT in Game 6 of the PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup Finals.

While carrying his first born, Thompson flashed a smile as he faced reporters inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“Tough game, but no need to be sad,” said Thompson, who finished with 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and a steal for Ginebra, but ultimately missing out on closing the series this time.

Save for TNT’s 9-0 run to start the fourth period, the Gin Kings managed to stay within striking distance from the Tropang Giga.

At one point, Ginebra even trimmed a 10-point gap to one, 79-80 after Justin Brownlee’s short jumper with 1:05 remaining.

However, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Poy Erram responded right away.

Down 80-85, Thompson heaved a bank shot with 10.5 ticks remaining to make the match more interesting.

But time just wasn’t on their side.

Still, there’s just no reason to be down as the Gin Kings get their second chance quickly, with the team preparing for Game 7 set on Friday, March 28 at the same venue.

“There’s one more game. Move on and let’s see what happens in Game 7," Scottie said.

“Game 7: Best two words in sports. It’s a players game. So all out to. Do or die.”
