After falling short during the PBA’s 50th anniversary celebration last Wednesday, Chris Newsome and his Meralco teammates aim to get back on track as they take on struggling Phoenix in the Season 49 Philippine Cup on Sunday, April 13.

Gametime is at 5 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate.

The Bolts, now at 2-1, are eager to shake off the sting of a 98-110 loss to powerhouse San Miguel in their retro-themed showdown last Wednesday, April 9.

Despite the defeat, Meralco remains one of the more consistent teams early in the conference and will look to reassert that form against a Phoenix team that has dropped back-to-back games.

Phoenix, still winless at 0-2, is searching for answers after setbacks against Terrafirma and Converge.

That leaves the door open for the Bolts to seize momentum early, especially with Bong Quinto, Newsome and the rest of the core aiming to regain their rhythm.
