Jonah Sabete turned emotional after the Petro Gazz Angels booked their ticket to PVL All-Filipino Conference finals with a 25-17, 25-23, 25-15 win over PLDT High Speed Hitters on Thursday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
But her tears were not of despair.
“Sobrang happy namin,” she said as she tried to stay composed during the post-game interview. “Ito talaga yung gusto namin.”
Sabete couldn’t stop the tears from falling. After all, the Angels had to go through a rough road to get another shot at a PVL title.
After failing to finish off the High Speed Hitters in Game 2, the Angels needed to adjust their mindset heading into the decider.
“Yung susi sa game, [inisip namin na] babawi kami at mag-enjoy sa bawat point. Kahit maliliit na bagay kailangan i-celebrate para makatulong sa team na ma-boost pa,” she said.
As they punched their finals ticket, Petro Gazz also proved people wrong.
“Yung pagod tsaka sakripisyo nakuha namin. Napatunayan namin sa ibang tao na kaya ng Petro Gazz,” Sabete said.
The Angels play the Creamline Cool Smashers in the finals. Action begins on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
