Fresh start for Pia Ildefonso with Farm Fresh.
Pia Ildefonso is set to make a volleyball comeback, but this time as a professional player with Farm Fresh Foxies.
The new PVL squad announced the news on their social media accounts.
The former Ateneo Blue Eagles middle blocker skipped the UAAP Season 85. It was supposed to be Ildefonso’s sophomore year with the Katipunan-based squad. She didn’t reveal then the reason for the decision to sit out.
By signing with the Foxies, Ildefonso essentially forgoes her playing years in the collegiate rank.
The 20-year-old daughter of PBA legend Danny Ildefonso said she wanted a fresh start with Farm Fresh.
"I just wanted a fresh start and what better way to have that than join a team na nasa pangalan na ang fresh," Ildefonso said.
"I want to fall back in love with the sport and through the help of my lovely teammates na very talented, I hope to get there with hard work and passion."
Pia will play under the tutelage of champion coach Jerry Yee.
"Right now, I'm just someone who wants to learn more about the sport from one of the best coaches in the country."
Ildefonso admits there’s still a lot to learn but remains optimistic that she will grow with her new volleyball family.
"Sobrang daming kailangan matutunan lalo na from the veterans in the team and that excites me."
The Foxies will debut in the PVL Invitational Conference that will open this June 27.
