The defending champions will take a break winning back-to-back games.
The Creamline Cool Smashers nonchalantly cruised to back-to-back wins to open the PVL Invitational Conference.
The defending champions opened their title defense bid with a straight-set statement win over the Chery Tiggo Crossovers last Tuesday, then easily swept newcomers Gerflor Defenders on Thursday. That will be followed by a long 13-day break as they won't play until July 13.
Cool Smashers coach Sherwin Meneses bared what the team will be doing in the lengthy break.
The first order of business is to take a breather.
"'Yung plano namin mag-rest tomorrow (Friday). Kasi hindi kami nakapag-break last week kasi nga Tuesday game namin," Meneses told reporter in the post-game interview on Thursday.
"Advantage sa amin makapagpahinga kami, and makapag-prepare nang mas maganda sa next game namin."
The team in pink will flaunt their unbeaten record against the PLDT High Speed Hitters next, and Meneses assured that the team will never be complacent or rusty—even without official games—thanks to a highly competitive roster.
"Break lang sa laro pero hindi sa practice. Sa training naman namin lahat ng players napaka-competitive."
Meneses then joked, "Si Alyssa [Valdez] nga seven months [ang break] e."
No point in questioning Creamline's method because it has been highly effective. After all, the Cool Smashers arguably have the best chemistry in the entire league.
"Advantage sa amin kasi bata team namin e," Meneses said.
"'Yun naman 'yung ano namin e, tamang rest at tamang training."
