It’s easy to see that the Creamline Cool Smashers, champions of three of the last five conferences, are a dynastic force in the PVL. Volleyball pundits will say the talent is just unmatched and overflowing. Creamline supporters may still be reeling from the loss of Jia de Guzman, but they still have former PVL MVPs Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos, Jema Galanza, and Ced Domingo in the roster.
Some die-hard CCS fans, however, will attribute their success to the team’s impeccable chemistry. One manifestation of that is the strong bond between Valdez, Michele Gumabao, and Ella de Jesus—who call themselves the Snack Friends.
On Wednesday, Gumabao posted on Instagram a video of the three of them doing a Snack Friend Challenge. What is a Snack Friend Challenge, you ask?
Apparently, they didn’t know, too. Facing the camera, the trio were still thinking of a gimmick they could do with the three packs of biscuits they had.
Ella wasn’t short on ideas.
“Paunahan tayo makaubos,” the libero said.
“‘Yung buong pack? Gutom ka ba?” A dazed Michele replied.
After a few more blank stares into the smartphone that they used to record themselves, Gumabao suggested that they throw a cookie into the air and then try to catch with their mouths. Valdez and de Jesus agreed, but Ate Ly had to be Ate Ly, reminding her two friends to not waste food.
“Pero pag ganun, saluhin ha, sayang.”
The trio’s first attempt, to almost no surprise, was a fail. They all burst into laughter.
“Hindi, ang laki talaga,” Gumabao said pertaining to the biscuit, trying to make sense why she didn’t make the catch.
A couple more attempts and the former De La Salle Lady Spiker nailed it. Valdez came second, forcing de Jesus to abandon the challenge and dunk the biscuit straight into her mouth instead.

And oh, this was just “Challenge # 1” for the Snack Friends, as Gumabao indicated in her video.
Wonder what could be the next? Stay tuned.
