The young team continues to impress.
Make that two wins in a row for the Nxled Chameleons after overpowering the Galeries Tower Highrisers in straight sets, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17, at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Thursday.
The Chameleons started slowly in the first two sets but were able to find their momentum just in time to snatch both frames.
Come the third set, Nxled completely took over the match to score its third victory in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.
Krich Macaslang led the way for the Chameleons with 11 points built on eight attacks, two aces, and one block.
“We all know na pinag-aralan kami ng mabuti (ng Galeries). Pero siguro nag-mature kami as players kasi may in-game adjustments kami. Although medyo natagalan siya like half of the set pero naka-adjust kami,” Macaslang said during the postgame interview.
But more than her contributions on the offensive end, it was Macaslang’s energy early in the game that propelled the Chameleons to victory.
“Nakita naman siguro ng lahat na medyo tahimik (nung first and second set), so instead of me parang being worried, nag-step up ako na, sige kung wala pang mag-iingay, sisimulan ko para makahawa ako, at least in a good way,” she added.
Fresh off their emotionally charged win over sister squad Akari Chargers, the Chameleons, who moved to 3-5 in the standings, continue to prove to PVL fans that they are indeed a team to be taken seriously.
Nxled will look to extend its winning streak against its biggest challenge yet in defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
The Galeries, meanwhile, are still searching for their first win in the league. They will face off against Akari on Thursday as well.
