The PLDT High Speed Hitters have qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference after dominating the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in straight sets, 25-18, 25-14, 25-12, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday, August 13.

PLDT became the third team to make the playoffs, along with the Akari Chargers and Cignal HD Spikers.

With the win, the High Speed Hitters, who now sit with a 5-1 record, also eliminated the still-winless Thunderbelles from playoff contention.

Dominating all throughout the match, PLDT continued to overpower ZUS Coffee in the third, limiting the team to just 12 points.

Blocking proved to be a crucial statistic in the match as the High Speed Hitters flexed its might with nine blocks as compared to just three from the Thunderbelles.

Majoy Baron led the High Speed Hitters to victory with 13 points on nine attacks and four blocks. Import Elena Samoilenko had 14 markers in the win.

Asaka Tamaru was the lone double-digit scorer for the Thunderbelles with 13 points to go along with 14 excellent digs.

Up next for PLDT will be the Petro Gazz Angels on Saturday, August 17 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

ZUS Coffee, on the other hand, will face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers also on the same day.
