The Cignal HD Spikers begin life without veterans Ces Molina and Riri Meneses with a clean sweep of the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-17, 25-20, 25-19, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, January 21.

With the win, the HD Spikers keep their hold of the second spot with a 5-1 record, bouncing back following their first loss last time out. Meanwhile, the Highrisers continue their struggles at 1-6.

Tied at 14-all in the third set, Cignal turned to Vanie Gandler and Rose Doria-Aquino to distance themselves from the error-prone Galeries Tower.

Judith Abil pushed the HD Spikers ahead at 22-17 after her down-the-line attack, before Ishie Lalongisip and Caroline Santos closed the game out.

Newly-minted team captain Dawn Cantindig led Cignal with 19 excellent digs and four excellent receptions.

The HD Spikers will have a week off to prepare for their next match which will be against the PLDT High Speed Hitters on January 28 still at the PhilSports Arena.
